Your friends and the Mode of Colorful Marbles

Imagine you and your friends are collecting colorful marbles. You all dump your marbles into one big pile and start looking at the colors. You notice that there are lots of blue, some red, a few green, and a single yellow marble.

If someone asks, "Which marble color do we have the most of?" You'd look at the pile and see that blue marbles show up more than any other color. So, the "mode" or the "most common" marble color in your pile is blue!

It's like finding out which ice cream flavor is the most popular at a birthday party by seeing which one disappears the fastest. The one that's gone first is like the "mode"—it's the one that more people chose than any other.
