Explan Like I'm 5
Median
Imagine you and your friends line up toy cars by how fast they go. You have 5 toy cars, and their speeds are 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 mph.
To find the "middle speed" or median, you look for the car that's right in the middle of the line. That would be the car that goes 6 mph!
But what if you had one more car that goes 12 mph? Now you have 6 cars, and there's no single car in the middle. So you take the speeds of the two cars that are closest to the middle (6 mph and 8 mph) and find the average speed: mph.
So, the median speed of your toy cars would be 7 mph. It's like finding the car that's "in the middle" of the lineup!
